The evaluation of the resumption of duties on imports of polypropylene resin from the US to Brazil has begun

On September 11, 2023, SECEX Circular No. 38/2023 was published, initiating the evaluation process of the resumption of the anti-dumping duty, which was imposed and immediately suspended by GECEX Resolution No. 410/2022, on the imports of polypropylene resin (PP), commonly classified under subitems 3902.10.20 and 3902.30.00 of the Mercosur Common Nomenclature (NCM), originating from the United States of America.

 

The petition was filed by Braskem S.A.

 

Polypropylene can be used in a variety of applications, such as raffia for sacks, films, fibers for roof tiles, weaving and cordage, household utilities, disposable lids, non-woven fabrics, various packaging, household appliances, automotive parts, and others.

 

The assessment of the resumption of the anti-dumping duty considers the period from April 2021 to June 2023.
