Launched in 1997, our Environmental Law team is prepared to offer legal services in a wide range of issues covered by Brazilian environmental legislation. With solid experience, the team is made up of highly skilled professionals who are exclusively dedicated to the environmental practice.
The area represents clients in the most relevant cases in the country and provides strategic advice to companies that aim at achieving business success with legal certainty. We put into practice the principle of sustainable development by enabling economic activities that are compatible with the protection of the environment.
Besides acting in preventive measures and greenfield projects, we assist companies from the most diverse segments with consultations, administrative proceedings before environmental authorities, and lawsuits filed by the State and Federal Public Prosecutor Offices, NGOs, and third parties. We also have strong expertise in assisting clients to manage environmental accidents, crises, contaminated sites, and other critical situations that require communication, engagement with stakeholders, and negotiations of commitments, among others.
Moreover, our practice covers areas that entail specific knowledge, such as legislation involving access to genetic resources and associated traditional knowledge, and benefit sharing, internationally known as ABS (Access and Benefit Sharing).
Upon identification of the needs of our clients, we can set up a multidisciplinary team, by allocating lawyers from the environmental, capital markets, and energy practices, who are ready to assist clients in the financing and implementation of projects eligible for Low Emissions Certificates in accordance with the Clean Development Mechanism.
