On December 15, the President of the Republic published Decree No. 11.831/2023, which establishes the Management Committee of the Integrated Foreign Trade System (SISCOMEX).
The SISCOMEX Management Committee aims to define the guidelines and procedures related to the standardization, updating, harmonization, and simplification of SISCOMEX. Recognizing the administrative and tax aspects of Brazilian foreign trade, management is shared between two Ministries: the Executive Secretaries of the Ministry of Finance and of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services participate in the Commission, as well as the Secretary of Internal Revenue Service of the Brazil (RFB) and the Secretary of Foreign Trade (SECEX).
SISCOMEX is fundamental for Brazilian foreign trade because it is in this system that all import and export operations are registered. In addition to ensuring the legality of foreign trade operations, and to guaranteeing the application of administrative treatments and the payment of taxes due upon importation, SISCOMEX also has the function of aggregating important statistical information about our trade flow, contributing to the formulation of good public policies. In this sense, a good management of SISCOMEX means the development of the country!
