The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has announced a public hearing to be held on November 13, 2025, starting at 2:00 pm, in a hybrid format (both online and in-person). The objective is to deepen the diagnosis of competition challenges in Brazil’s liquid fuels sector. The event will bring together representatives from the productive sector, regulatory agencies, experts, consumers, and civil society, fostering a plural and transparent debate on market practices, competitive structure, and possible measures to enhance the sector’s competitiveness.
This hearing takes place in the context of CADE’s intensified focus on this sector, which has recently been designated as an institutional priority for the next two years. Key initiatives include strengthening investigations into cartels and other collusive practices, updating economic studies, and sharing information with agencies such as the Federal Police, the General Attorney’s Office (AGU), and the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME). This movement has already resulted in the launching of new investigations.
In this scenario, relevant companies in the sector are receiving increased attention from competition and regulatory authorities. Active participation in the public debate and close monitoring of investigations and regulatory trends have become essential for risk management and the development of business strategies in the fuels sector.
