Ligia Schlittler returns to the firm bringing 25 years of experience in energy regulation and M&A, with focus on renewable energy and infrastructure projects

 

TozziniFreire Advogados, one of the largest full-service law firms in Brazil, announces Ligia Schlittler as the new partner for the Infrastructure and Energy, Corporate, and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) areas. She has broad experience in the renewable energy market (wind, solar, and hydropower) and infrastructure, advising generation, transmission, and distribution concessionaires, and handling corporate/M&A matters in the national market. Internationally, Ligia advises countries on implementing strategies to reduce carbon emissions and on energy transition.

Graduate of the Law School of UERJ (University of Rio de Janeiro), Ligia holds an LL.M. degree from Duke University School of Law and a specialization degree in Environmental and Energy Law from the same institution. She also holds a specialization degree in Corporate Law and a university extension certificate in Contract Law, both from FGV (Fundação Getulio Vargas. Besides Brazil, Ligia Schlittler is licensed to practice law in the states of New York and California. She is recommended by the prestigious international legal guide The Legal 500 in Projects and Infrastructure, and her track record includes a relevant international transaction involving the acquisition of Argo Energia by Grupo Energía Bogotá, from Colombia, and Red Eléctrica, from Spain, valued at BRL 3.36 billion.

 

Additionally, Ligia is the founder of the women's leadership group Women in Energy (Mulheres de Energia), which brings together female senior executives from the energy industry, with different backgrounds and experiences to discuss the sector’s issues and female leadership.
