TozziniFreire announces the arrival of Rubens Granja and Natássia Misae Ueno as new partners in the Life Sciences & Healthcare practice. Rubens will serve as head of the practice, which is currently experiencing growth at the firm.
Recognized for his work before ANVISA, ANS and MAPA, Rubens has extensive experience advising national and international companies on regulatory, contractual, contentious and strategic matters involving the human and animal health, biotechnology, food and agribusiness sectors.
Natássia brings immense value in regulatory matters and administrative litigation involving regulatory authorities in the healthcare and agribusiness sectors, as well as in public bids and contracts conducted at all levels of government.
The new members join our partner Victor Hugo Avallone, whose work in the area is widely recognized. The practice had already been experiencing growth, driven by the increasing complexity of the regulatory environment, technological advances and the digitalization of businesses.

About Rubens Granja
Rubens Granja is head of TozziniFreire’s Life Sciences practice. With more than 20 years of experience, he works on matters related to products and services regulated by the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (ANVISA), the Brazilian Supplementary Health Agency (ANS) and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), advising national and foreign companies in the healthcare and life sciences sectors on matters at the intersection of regulation and business, including market access, clinical research, public procurement, contracts and strategic transactions.
His practice encompasses regulatory law, public bids and contracts, civil liability and consumer law, with a focus on the human health, animal health and agribusiness sectors. From 2015 to 2019, he served as chair of the Brazilian Bar Association’s (OAB) Sanitary Law Committee and currently serves on the Healthcare and Life Sciences Law Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA).
He is recognized by leading national and international legal directories, ranked as Band 1 in Life Sciences by Chambers & Partners Brazil and Global, and recognized as Leading Partner in Life Sciences by Legal 500, in addition to being highlighted by Análise Advocacia, LACCA Approved and the Lexology Index (Global Elite Thought Leader in Healthcare & Life Sciences Regulatory).
Rubens holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of São Paulo (USP), a specialization in Civil Liability from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), a Master of Laws in Law, Science and Technology from Stanford University, a Master’s degree in Civil Law from USP and a Ph.D. in Civil Law from the same institution.
About Natássia Misae Ueno
Natássia Misae Ueno has solid experience in regulatory, contractual and administrative litigation matters under the jurisdiction of ANVISA, ANS, MAPA and other regulatory authorities in the healthcare and agribusiness sectors, as well as in public bids and contracts conducted at all levels of government. She stands out for her work on cases involving innovative public procurement. She holds a law degree from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, a postgraduate degree in Administrative Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP) and a Master’s degree in Public Law from Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV-SP).
